Nitish Kumar Reddy suffered injury during the second ODI against Australia in Adelaide.

The Indian Cricket Team have suffered a massive blow ahead of the T20I series against the Australian Cricket Team as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the first three games of the series. 

Nitish Kumar Reddy, who suffered an injury during the second ODI against Australia, was expected to get fit for the T20Is. The all-rounder was ruled out of the third ODI in Sydney but various reports claimed that he will be fit for the T20I series. 

However, his injury is much worse than expected as he has been ruled out of the first three T20Is with left quadriceps strain. The development was confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who released an official statement, saying:

“Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out for the first three T20Is. The all-rounder who was recovering from his left quadriceps injury sustained during the second ODI in Adelaide, complained of neck spasms, which have impacted his recovery and mobility. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress.”

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s injury comes as big blow for India

This comes as a big blow for India as his absence surely disrupts the balance of the team. He was added to the team as a replacement for Hardik Pandya, who got injured in Asia Cup 2025 and was ruled out of the entire Australia tour. 

In the first T20I against Australia, India opted for the combination of two frontline pacers in Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana along with Shivam Dube being the pace-bowling all-rounder. India also went in with three spinners in Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy and Axar Patel.
