No rest for Rohit Sharma as India announce 17-member squad for ODI series against West Indies

Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian side against West Indies in the 3-match ODI series.
Indian squad for the three-match ODI series on their tour of West Indies has been announced by the BCCI on June 23, 2023, along with the Test squad.
The first Test will be played in Dominica from July 12 onwards and the second Test will begin on July 20th in Trinidad.
The three ODIs will be played on July 27, July 29 in Barbados, and August 1 in Tarouba, Trinidad. The first T20I will also be played in Tarouba on August 3, with the second and third matches to be played in Providence, Guyana on August 6 and 8 respectively.
The last two T20Is will be played in Fort Lauderhill, USA on August 12 and 13.
No rest has been given to Rohit Sharma as he will captain the side in the series with Hardik Pandya as his deputy.
The other player to form the part of the batting lineup will be Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill, while Ruturaj Gaikwad also gets his ODI call-up after a long time. Hardik Pandya will bolster the middle order and play as a finisher while chipping in with valuable overs with the ball.
Sanju Samson is back in ODIs, to contest for the wicketkeeper position with Ishan Kishan
Also included in the ODI squad was Sanju Samson, who hasn't been part of India's ODI squad since the tour of New Zealand in November 2022. He will contest for the wicket-keeper’s position with Ishan Kishan, who was part of India's squad in their most recent ODI series, at home against Australia in March, but played just one of the three games.
The absence of senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been rested from the tour, has given his Bengal team-mate Mukesh Kumar the opportunity to impress the selectors. He along with Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, and Umran Malik will form the pace department for West Indies ODIs.
However, the team management could have a tricky time picking their spin combination, with their choices including Jadeja and Axar, to go with wrist spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

India’s ODI Squad:
Rohit Sharma (Capt), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (VC), Shardul Thakur, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar.
