Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant were last seen on field during India’s test tour of England.

Reports have stated that India’s T20I squad for Asia Cup 2025 T20 tournament might not feature two of the most exciting players in Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. This is because with the 2026 T20 World Cup on home soil in a few months, the team’s plans do not include the star tandem in the shortest version of the game.

As per the Indian Express, Jaiswal and Pant are reportedly not in the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) plans for the Indian T20I team, and not only them, but even Shubman Gill is not guaranteed a place in the Indian T20I team. But, there are chances that the new India test captain might be included as Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy for the Asia Cup 2025.

Last year, Jaiswal and Gill opened the scoring in the 3-0 triumph over Sri Lanka. Since the team elected to rest the test team’s players from the game’s shortest format, they have not played for the team in that format.

Rishabh Pant, who is currently injured and will miss the Asia Cup anyway, is also not in the plans for the T20I format. This is mostly due to his T20I record being substandard for India in the format. He has just 1209 runs in 76 games at an average of 23.09. He also had a nightmare IPL 2025, with just 269 runs in 14 matches at an average of 24.25.

On the other hand, Jaiswal’s reported exclusion is a surprise, as he has 723 runs in 23 T20Is with one century and five fifties with a strike rate of 164.31. In IPL 2025, he was RR’s only consistent batter in a poor season, with 559 runs at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 159.71.

Jitesh Sharma in frame to be the backup keeper to Sanju Samson in T20I setup

With series wins over South Africa, England, and Bangladesh, the Indian T20I team reached new heights, with Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Verma dominating at the top of the order. The top four is set with Indian skipper Suryakumar batting at number four.

According to the same reports, Jitesh Sharma is in the lead to be the team’s second-wicket batsman. According to the statement, if Gill makes a comeback, he will bat first in place of Samson, allowing Jitesh to enter the lineup as a lower-order batsman.

The report also stated that apart from Jasprit Bumrah, the BCCI has identified Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy as x-factors in the bowling department.

When will Asia Cup 2025 begin?

Asia Cup 2025 will begin on September 9.

Will Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant get included in India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025?

According to reports, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant might not make it to India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025.
