Jatinder Singh to lead as Oman announce 17-member squad for Asia Cup 2025

Oman will open their campaign in Asia Cup 2025 against Pakistan on September 12.

The Oman Cricket Team announced 17-member squad on Monday (25th August) for Asia Cup 2025. The tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will see eight teams fighting for the title. 

The Oman Cricket Team, who are placed in Group A, will be captained by Jatinder Singh in Asia Cup 2025. They have named a pretty young side with quite a few players earning their maiden call-up for the tournament, which will be played from 9th to 28th September. 

They have added young Sufyan Yousuf, Zikriya Islam, Faisal Shah, and Nadeem Khan to the team. They are all in contention to make their debut as the Jatinder Singh-led side eye their first title in the history of the Asia Cup. 

Playing against teams like India and Pakistan is a moment to embrace for any cricketer – Oman head coach Duleep Mendis

Oman head coach Duleep Mendis talked about the squad and expressed his confidence in the team doing well in the tournament. He said that playing against Pakistan and India will give great exposure to players. 

“It is real that we are participating in the Asia Cup – a major tournament and a fantastic opportunity for our players to showcase their skills on a global stage.“

“Playing against teams like India and Pakistan is a moment to embrace for any cricketer. Anything can happen in a fast-paced T20 game, where one over of brilliance can change everything,” said Mendis as quoted by ICC.

Oman schedule for the Asia Cup 2025 

Oman will open their campaign in the Asia Cup 2025 against Pakistan on September 12. After that, they will be playing against the UAE on 15th September. Their last league game will be played against India on 19th September.
