RCB defeated Sanju Samson-led RR by 7 runs in a close finish.

With a great bowling effort, Royal Challengers Bangalore have defended 189 runs against Rajasthan Royals at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Rajasthan did try their best even after a poor start in the first over of the chase, where Mohammed Siraj cleaned up Jos Buttler on duck. After Buttler’s wicket, Devdutt Padikkal (52) and Yashaswi Jaiswal (47) added 98 runs for the second wicket. This gave them a chance in the chase once again. Captain Sanju Samson (22) and Shimron Hetmyer (3) had a poor show with the bat. Dhruv Jurel at the end tried to cross the line with his power hitting but he could not get a strike in the last over to finish. Ultimately, RCB ended up winning the game by just 7 runs.

Josh Hazlewood to comeback from the next game

Royal Challengers Bangalore started well with the ball but in the middle Siraj once again went out of rhythm. When he came after the Power play he took 9 balls to finish his 3rd over. This made RR come back in the chase. Harshal Patel in his 4 overs gave away 32 runs and picked up 3 wickets. RCB Captain Virat Kohli heaped praise on Harshal Patel and the RCB bowling attack. Kohli said, “He (Harshal) always bowls the tough overs, not easy at M. Chinnaswamy. He’s closed out games against Delhi Capitals and now today as well. So massive credit to the way he has performed”. Virat also said that Josh Hazlewood will be back in the action from the next game. "Hopefully Josh comes in next game.", added Kohli.

One or Two shots would have changed the game feels Sanju Samson

After losing Jos Buttler early, Rajasthan came back nicely but in the middle overs, Captain Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer’s struggle put the Royals on the back foot. RR Captain Sanju Samson felt that one or two hits would have changed the game. He said, “I think 10,12, 13 runs per over is chasable here, It was just about momentum and hitting a few more sixes. Normally Hettie does it but today Jurel was hitting as well. It was just about one or two shots here and there”. Dhruv Jurel ended up his inning on unbeaten 34 runs in 16 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. He brought RR back in the chase in the final overs.

RCB’s number 4 in the batting lineup Glenn Maxwell was awarded the player of the match award for his magnificent 77 runs inning and 127 runs partnership with Faf du Plessis (62). Maxwell came in when RCB were 2 down in 12 runs. Maxwell talking about his performance has said, “They have given me the freedom to go out there and express myself. I  came into the season with good form, and have that trust from the changing room”. Maxwell batted 44 balls for his 77 runs and smashed 6 fours and 4 sixes.
