Top 5 pairs with most 100+ partnerships in the IPL

Only one pair has added more than ten 100+ stands in the IPL history.
Partnerships are a very crucial aspect of batting in the game of cricket. Even in the Indian Premier League (IPL), partnerships play a very vital role in driving any team to victory. A batsman grabs the limelight with a century in any game. Similarly, a 100+ partnership is considered a very successful achievement by pairs.
The IPL has seen many big partnerships in the tournament’s history. Six times 200+ partnerships have been registered by batting pairs in the 18 years of existence of the league. Some pairs have also registered 100+ partnerships more often in the tournament’s history.
On that note, let’s take a look at top five pairs with most 100+ partnerships in the tournament history.
Here are the top five pairs with most 100+ partnerships in the IPL:
5. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill (GT) – 6
Gujarat Titans (GT) openers B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill grab the fifth spot on this list. Both GT batters account for six 100+ partnerships in IPL. They achieved the milestone from IPL 2022 to IPL 2025. Both the youngsters have been part of the franchise since its inception in 2022.
Their highest partnership for the side, 210 runs for the opening wicket, came against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024.
4. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli (RCB) – 6
Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli bag the fourth spot on this list with an equal six 100+ stands between them. The duo made the record at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). They aggregated six 100+ stands from 2022 to 2024.
Their highest partnership of 172 runs came against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad in 2023 edition of the tournament.
3. Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner (SRH) – 6
One of the most formidable opening pairs in the tournament’s history, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner also made six 100+ stands in the IPL. They shattered these partnerships from IPL 2014 to IPL 2017 seasons playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Their highest stand came against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017 in Hyderabad, which is of 139 runs for the opening wicket.
2. Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli (RCB) – 9
Former RCB opener Chris Gayle and former skipper Kohli clinch the second position in the list of pairs with the most 100+ partnerships in the IPL. The duo scored nine 100+ stands for RCB from the 2011 to 2017 seasons.
Their highest stand in the tournament’s history is 204* runs, which they scored against Delhi Daredevils in 2012 edition of the tournament.
1. AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli (RCB) – 10
AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli top this list with 10 stands of 100+ runs in the tournament’s history. Both used to rule the RCB batting lineup from 2011 to 2020. Moreover, they are the only pair to account for two 200+ stands in the tournament’s history.
Their highest partnership of 229 runs came against Gujarat Lions at their home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2016. In that game, both of the batters smashed a century.
