[Watch] Pakistan fan confronts Suryakumar Yadav, asks him why India will not tour Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
BCCI has confirmed to ICC that India won’t be traveling to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Suryakumar Yadav was put on the spot by a Pakistan team fan, who asked him why are India not traveling to his country for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This instance happened when Indian team players were on an outing in South Africa recently.
Suryakumar Yadav is currently leading India in the four-match T20I series in South Africa and he was asked about India’s refusal to tour Pakistan for the ICC event.
This comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in a trance after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) notified the International Cricket Council (ICC) that the Indian government has refused to provide permission to travel to Pakistan for the main event.
From February 9 to March 19 2025, Pakistan will host the eight-team ICC Champions Trophy event in three locations: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Even agreeing to host all of India’s matches in Lahore, close to the Amritsar border, they had continuously increased pressure on the ICC and BCCI to make sure that India travel Pakistan for the event.
With the UAE at the forefront of the race, the BCCI has asked the ICC to host India’s matches at a different location. However, Pakistan is not prepared to accept any hybrid format, and the tournament would be held solely in Pakistan, according to PCB president Mohsin Naqvi.
In addition, PCB informed ICC that they would no longer play India in any ICC or ACC competitions and threatened to withdraw from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Not on our hands: Suryakumar Yadav’s reply to a fan asking why India is refusing to go to Pakistan
Pakistan cricket fans were hoping to see Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and others playing in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, with BCCI stating that the Indian government has not given them permission to send Team India to Pakistan, they have been left saddened.
One such saddened fan had the opportunity to meet India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who is in South Africa with Men in Blue, and the fan asked him why is India not going to Pakistan.
“Mujhe ek baat bata saktein hai ke Pakistan kyu nahi aa rahe aap (Tell me why are you not coming to Pakistan)?”, the fan asked Suryakumar.
Surya gave an honest reply, ensuring the fan that it was not the players’ call to make.
“Arrey bhaiya, hamare hath mein thodi hai (Brother, it is not in our hands),” Surya replied.
Meanwhile, the PCB is trying to pull all strings it can to pressure the ICC into getting the BCCI to send Team India to Pakistan, or they will pull out from ICC Champions Trophy 2025 altogether.
