After being asked to bat first in the match, Sri Lanka posted 168/7 with a half-century by Dasun Shanaka (64*).
However, Bangladesh chased down the target in the final over, with a brilliant start by opener Saif Hasan, who scored 61 runs. Batting at No.4, Towhid Hridoy (58) also hammered a fifty to propel Bangladesh to a brilliant victory. In the group stage, Sri Lanka were unbeaten after winning all three matches against Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Afghanistan.

On the other hand, Pakistan suffered a defeat at the hands of India in their opening game of the Super Four round. The Salman Agha-led side piled up 171/5 in the first innings after being asked to bat first. With his 58-run knock, opener Sahibzada Farhan gave a spectacular start to the innings. However, other batters failed to capitalise on his good start.
Later, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill built a partnership of 105 runs to drive the team to victory by six wickets. Earlier, during the group stage, the Men in Green defeated Oman and the UAE, but lost to India. With four points, they finished in the second spot in group A points table to book a berth in the Super Four round.
Notably, Sri Lanka and Pakistan need to win their next clash to improve their chances of reaching Asia Cup 2025 final. The top two teams in the Super Four round will play the final of the tournament, which will take place next Sunday.
