Bangladesh won the 1st PAK vs BAN test by 10 wickets and recorded their maiden test match win over Pakistan.

The 1st PAK vs BAN test match in Rawalpindi went down in history books as Bangladesh registered their first-ever test win against Pakistan. This feat is even more incredible as they did it on Pakistani soil.

Najmul Hossain Shanto’s side thumped the Shan Masood-led unit by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi. Bangladeshi veteran Mushfiqur Rahim starred with the bat for the visitors with his 191-run knock that helped his side take a lead of 117 runs in the first innings in reply to Pakistan’s 448.

The hosts then collapsed in their second innings. In the first session of day five, Pakistan lost five wickets. They were eventually bowled out for 146 runs, setting Bangaldesh a small target of 30 runs.

Both teams penalised for slow over rates in 1st test

Both teams have been penalised for slow over rates. Pakistan have been fined 30 per cent of the match fee and six ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points have been docked. Bangladesh have been fined 15 per cent of their match fee and lost three WTC points.

Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle imposed sanctions on both teams. Pakistan were ruled to be six overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration, while Bangladesh were three overs short.

There was no need for a formal hearing as both Masood and Shanto accepted the offences.

Further, veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct in the first PAK vs BAN Test.

Shakib expressed his frustration with Mohammad Rizwan frequently pulling out of his batting stance. Shakib threw the ball angrily at Rizwan when the Pakistani batsman pulled out of his stance while Shakib was in his run-up.

In addition to the fine, Shakib received one demerit point to his disciplinary record.
