Pakistan to make debut in the third edition of the Road Safety World Series

India Legends won the first two editions of the Road Safety World Series.
Amid various T20 competitions around the world, a new and one-of-a-kind league was introduced in 2020, which was called the Road Safety World Series. This league came into existence to promote road safety around the globe, and former cricketers from the game participated in this tournament. Sachin Tendulkar is the brand ambassador of the league and captain of the India Legends.
Notably, it had a total of eight teams from India, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. India won both of the two seasons and are the defending champions. But now, with the third season scheduled to take place in September this year, a report from ESPN Cricinfo has confirmed that the coming season will see a total of nine teams instead of eight.
Pakistan to make their debut in the Road Safety World Series.
The first two editions of the Road Safety World Series took place in India, but the coming season will be played in England. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has approved the same. Meanwhile, the new team to make its debut in the third edition will be from Pakistan. This will be the first time fans will see former cricketers from Pakistan also taking part in the competition.
However, the dates and schedule are yet to be finalized, but some media reports suggest that the league will start in the first week of September and conclude in three weeks. The first ever edition was played in two halves in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while the second season was played in 2022. Because of the political tension between India and Pakistan, there was no team from Pakistan in the first two seasons.
The inaugural season had only five teams from India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, and Australia, and it increased to eight in the second season. In the finals of both seasons, India faced Sri Lanka Legends and won the competition. There have been some big names in the Road Safety World Series who have been part of World Cup-winning squads for their respective countries, like Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Kevin Piertersen, Yuvraj Singh, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, and Brian Lara.
