Pakistan will face England in Match 44 of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens on Saturday.

Pakistan had their chances to qualify for the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, but they couldn’t convert it into their favor. Now things are out of control, and they need a historic win against England to go past New Zealand’s NRR in order to qualify for the semis. Well, that is a different thing, but Pakistan need to win their final group match.

They will face England in the second match on Saturday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. England are coming off a win, and they will be keen to win this one as well. But Pakistan have no other choice but to win this match and that too big with a huge margin to qualify for the semis. Here we will talk about the predicted playing XI for Pakistan on Saturday.

ENG vs PAK: Pakistan’s Predicted playing XI vs England

1. Fakhar Zaman :

Fakhar Zaman has come and performed exceedingly well for Pakistan, helping them win the last two matches. Especially the way he batted against New Zealand was incredible. His team will hope for something similar from him and need to post a big score that can take Pakistan to a big total, and they can think of a big win. Fakhar has scored 219 runs with 18 sixes so far.

2. Abdullah Shafique :

Abdullah Shafique has been the second-highest scorer for Pakistan in this tournament and has looked good in the games he has played. He has scored 336 runs at an average of 48, including one hundred and three half-centuries. Shafique will also be looking to end the tournament with a big score that can end in Pakistan’s favor.

3. Babar Azam :

There has been a lot of criticism on Babar Azam and his captaincy, and this is the right time to shut down all the critics. The captain needs to show the right intent the way he batted with Fakhar in the last game and should look to give a final shot for the semis. Babar is a terrific player and will be a big wicket for England.

4. Mohammad Rizwan (wk) :

Mohammad Rizwan is the highest run-getter for Pakistan. He has scored 359 runs at an average of 71.80 and has scored runs in almost every game. Rizwan is the backbone of their middle-order, and if England want to win, they have to dismiss him cheaply. But the way he is performing, if it looks like he will be getting another good knock on Saturday.

5. Saud Shakeel :

Saud Shakeel was not in Pakistan’s World Cup plans ahead of the tournament, but he has grabbed the chances with both hands and scored runs in tough situations. Shakeel has scored 212 runs at a strike rate of 101.43 and has been consistent whenever the top order has failed. He will be looking to add some more runs in his maiden World Cup tournament and do well against England.

6. Iftikhar Ahmed :

Iftikhar Ahmed will be a possible threat for England. Not just with the bat, but he can also be a pretty useful off-spinner at Eden Gardens who can trouble the batters. Then, with the bat, he is truly a game-changer who can smash any bowling attack and score quick runs. His all-round ability will be the key for Pakistan on Saturday.

7. Agha Salman :

Agha Salman has played two games and hasn’t had chances with the bat or the ball. But he is a decent all-rounder who can play quick innings and bowl some useful overs in the middle. Though he will like that he won’t get a chance and top order win it for Pakistan, if he gets the chance, he can strike the ball big.

8. Hasan Ali :

Hasan Ali will be under the pump and will look to break the shackles with a good performance. The veteran pacer has looked good in patches but hasn’t had a full game with a good performance. He has taken nine wickets, but he is a pretty smart bowler who can bowl at hard length to trouble the opposition batter.

9. Shaheen Afridi :

Shaheen Afridi had a horrible game against New Zealand, and he registered Pakistan’s worst World Cup bowling figures. But he will be the key for Pakistan. If Shaheen can deliver with the new ball, Pakistan will definitely be on top, and that’s the only thing on his mind. Shaheen has taken 16 wickets so far and is fully capable of demolishing the batting order.

10. Mohammad Wasim Jr. :

Mohammad Wasim Jr. has been the pick of the bowlers for Paksitan in the last few matches. He has picked up wickets and done well. In three matches, he has already taken 8 wickets at an average of 17.62. Wasim is using the conditions to full effect and is a brilliant component of reverse swing. Thus, he will be a hard block for England.

11. Haris Rauf :

Haris Rauf has given away the most runs as a bowler in this tournament, but his real ability is to pick up wickets. He can be an expensive bowler with the new ball, but he bowls some heavy balls and restricts the batters in the final overs. Haris has taken 13 wickets so far, and Pakistan will hope that he can deliver an impactful spell that can help them win.
