Pakistan to tour Sri Lanka for three-match T20I series ahead of ICC T20 World Cup 2026

All three T20Is between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at the same venue in Sri Lanka in January.
In preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play a three-match Twenty20 International series in January.
According to reports, both cricket boards have confirmed the schedule, and the matches are scheduled to take place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium from January 8 to 12.
Before the worldwide competition next year, the tour will provide the team with invaluable match preparation. Pakistan will play all of their tournament games in Colombo after being placed in Group A of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The major event is slated to run from 7 February to 8 March.
The announcement comes after Pakistan concluded its 2025 cricket season with home series victories over South Africa and Sri Lanka. The green shirts won both of their three-match T20I and ODI series against South Africa in October, 2-1.

The 2026 T20 World Cup will run from February 7 to March 8 in India and Sri Lanka. According to insiders, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) were in regular contact in recent weeks to lock in the series specifics, which are now mostly confirmed.
“Pakistan men’s T20I squad will travel to Sri Lanka next month to feature in a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka as part of their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. All three matches will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium (RDICS) in Dambulla on 7, 9 and 11 January.
The tour will provide the side with valuable match practice ahead of next year’s global event. Pakistan are placed in Group ‘A’ for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and will play all their fixtures in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The mega event is scheduled to run from 7 February to 8 March,” PCB statement read.

Dambulla has been allocated all matches owing to ongoing renovations at the R.Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium that will be used for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. This continuing upgrade has also pushed back the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), which was initially scheduled for November-December.
