When and where to buy tickets for Pakistan matches at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023?
Pakistan will kick-of their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign on 6th October in Hyderabad.
The 2023 men’s ODI World Cup will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad, and matches will be held across ten venues, and culminate in the final – also in Ahmedabad – on November 19. The semi-finals will be held in Mumbai and Kolkata on November 15 and 16.
The 45 league matches and the three knockouts will be played in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune over a span of 46 days. The two semi-finals and the final will all have reserve days.
Finally, Pakistan have received the green signal from their government to travel to India for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. After months of negotiations, threats and whatnot, the Babar Azam-led side will travel to their neighboring country for the first time since 2016.
The last time Pakistan came to India was for the 2016 T20 World Cup and last time they played any bilateral game in India was in 2012-13 series. Since then, both the teams have only played in ICC and ACC events.
The last World Cup tournament in 2019 was not a good one for the Pakistan team, as they failed to qualify for the semi-final, which led to Babar Azam taking over the captaincy and since then, they have a decent record in the 50-over format.
They reached the semi-final of the T20 World Cup in 2021 and the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup under Babar’s captaincy.
Men in Green have won the World Cup once in 1992 under Imran Khan and since then made it into the knockout stages in the 1996 World Cup, losing to India in the quarterfinals. Played in the final of the 1999 World Cup in England, losing to Australia, and then played in the semi-final in the 2011 World Cup, losing to India in Mohali.
Pakistan’s Complete Schedule for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023:
Five locations will host Pakistan’s league stage games: Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. Their last league game will take place against England on November 12 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
On October 14, they will play India in the biggest cricket stadium in the world, located in Ahmedabad.
Pakistan have already requested a change in the venues for their matches against Australia and Afghanistan. They decided against playing Afghanistan in Chennai due to the opponent’s potent team of spin bowlers. They expressed a desire to play in Chennai against Australia and Bangalore against Afghanistan.
However, the ICC rejected their plea, therefore they will play Australia on a batting-friendly Australian field and Afghanistan on a spin-friendly Chennai pitch.
In case, Pakistan reach the semi-final stage of the ICC World Cup 2023, they will play their knockout match in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Two of their matches were rescheduled after BCCI and ICC revised the schedule as now they will play Sri Lanka on October 10 instead of October 12 and will now play India on October 14 instead of October 15, but the venue remains the same.
