Rishabh Pant hails Yashasvi Jaiswal following the opener's swashbuckling show in IND vs ENG test series
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had a terrific five-match test series against England.
Rishabh Pant is ready for the his comeback in the game after a long injury layoff. Pant suffered a massive accident in December 2022 and was ruled out of the action for almost 15 months. Pant will be making his comeback in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) for Delhi Capitals (DC). While everyone is excited to witness the top-class Indian wicket-keeper back in action, Pant was excited with the ‘Jaisball’ show.
Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is impressed with Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s terrific batting performance across formats. Pant said that it was exciting to watch youngsters stepping up for in the recently concluded five-match test series against England. In the recently concluded test series against England at home, Yashasvi Jaiswal entered several record books including becoming third Indian batter to hit consecutive double tons in test cricket.
Pant’s high praise on Jaiswal
Rishabh Pant said that if Jaiswal continues to bat in the same way, he will definitely go long way. Pant said, “The way all the youngsters are stepping up. I think it’s been really amazing because, you know, over a period of time; some new people come to the team.” Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 712 runs in five test matches against England and became second Indian batter after Sunil Gavaskar to score more than 700 in a bilateral test series.
Rishabh Pant added that Jaiswal is someone who doesn’t think much. “Every time you won’t see them performing, but when they perform and keep their heads (down)… Like not thinking too much and Jaiswal is someone who likes keeping his head down and just keeps doing what he is doing. And I think if he keeps on doing that, then there’s a long way to go.” Pant told while speaking at the Club Prairie Fire podcast with Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan.
Yashasvi Jaiswal made his international debut against West Indies in July 2023. He has so far played 9 test matches and 17 T20I games in last 6 months. He has so far scored 1028 runs in tests at an outstanding average of 68.53 including three centuries and four half-centuries. In T20Is, Jaiswal has amassed 502 runs including one century and four half-centuries.
