Parthiv Patel will be the batting coach of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025.
Parthiv Patel, batting coach of Gujarat Titans (GT), has named the best all-rounder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and it is not Hardik Pandya. Parthiv Patel was a veteran of the IPL and played for six franchises during his IPL tenure.
Parthiv played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Deccan Chargers, and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) — during his 12-year-long IPL career.
The former India cricketer was asked to choose the best IPL all-rounder during a discussion on Cricbuzz. Parthiv Patel ignored multiple big names such as Hardik Pandya and Glenn Maxwell, along with Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine.
Parthiv Patel chooses the best all-rounder in IPL
Parthiv Patel chose his former MI teammate Kieron Pollard as the best all-rounder ever in the IPL history. From 2010 until 2022, Pollard was a member of MI. He played 189 games for the MI during his career, claiming 69 wickets and scoring 3412 runs. His strike rate was 147.32 and he hit 16 fifties with a best score of 87*.
He played with MI, who won two Champions League titles in 2011 and 2014 and five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. The star all-rounder joined MI as a batting coach before the 2023 season after retiring from the IPL, and he will return to the role this year.
Kieron Pollard captained the West Indies as well. He played 123 ODIs and 101 T20I matches as well. He made 2706 runs in ODIs and 1569 runs in T20Is. He made 3 ODI centuries, 13 fifties, and 6 T20I fifties. However, his impact was in the strike rates, as he had an ODI strike rate of 94.41 and a T20I strike rate of 135.41.
The IPL 2025 is scheduled to begin on March 22 with the opening match in Kolkata between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). On the other hand, MI’s IPL 2025 campaign will begin at the MA Chidambaram Stadium against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On March 29, they will travel to Ahmedabad to play Gujarat Titans in the second league stage match.
