Eight parties are interested in buying RCB ahead of IPL 2026.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are among the most popular franchises in world cricket. Currently, being the defending champions in both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Women’s Premier League (WPL), the franchise has skyrocketed their value, with their fan base arguably being the best in the world.
While Rajat Patidar-led RCB won the IPL 2025 title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final, the Smriti Mandhana-led RCB Women won the WPL 2026 by crushing Delhi Capitals (DC) in the summit clash.
RCB, owned by an international alcohol and beverage giant, Diageo, have been on the sale since last year. The current owners are looking to sell the franchise and have been in talks with several business groups, and the transfer is likely to be completed ahead of IPL 2026.
RCB’s estimated bid is between $1.2 and 1.8 billion. According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, eight well-known business groups have expressed interest in buying the franchise. Take a look at them.

Lancer Capital are owned by Avram Glazer, a US-based businessman who also owns the Manchester United football club. According to reports, they have submitted a bid of around $1.8 billion, which positions them among the highest bidders for RCB.
2. Manipal Group
The Manipal Group was founded in 1941 in Karnataka and is owned by Ranjan Pai. It is a fourth-generation business conglomerate and operates in various sectors like education, healthcare, print, media, technology, and finance. Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Manipal Hospitals are among their key business ventures.
3. Adar Poonawalla Group
Adar Poonawalla is a Karnataka-based billionaire who is the CEO of Serum Institute of India (SII) and Chairman of the Poonawalla Fincorp. SII is a multinational biotech company based in Pune, which is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer by volume.
4. Times Group
Officially named as Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (BCCL), Times Group is India’s largest media conglomerate. Based in Mumbai, it was founded in 1838 and owned by the Sahu Jain family. The group dominates print, television, radio, and digital media, featuring brands like the Times of India and Times Now.
5. EQT Private Capital
It is a global investment company that focuses on active ownership and investing across Europe, North America, and Asia. EQT invests in big companies related to technology, healthcare, and industrial sectors.
6. Capri Global Capital Limited
Capri Global Capital Limited is a popular retail-focused Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) in India, which owns assets worth over INR 30,000 crores and serves over 6 lakh Indian customers. It primarily focuses on providing financial assistance through MSME loans, gold loans, housing loans and real estate projects.
7. US-based businessman Sanjay Govil
Sanjay Govil is an Indian-American businessman who is the founder and Chairman of Infinite Computer Solutions. He also owns the Washington Freedom Team in the USA’s Major Cricket League (MLC) and the Welsh Fire in England’s The Hundred.
8. Premji Invest
It is a private equity firm and a leading global investment company owned by Azim Premji, the founder and chairman of Wipro. It focuses on sectors like financial services, technology, healthcare, and life sciences. They are looking to buy a major stake in the RCB franchise.
