Pat Cummins said watching the Paris Olympics has got him excited to feature in LA28 Olympics.

Australia test and ODI captain Pat Cummins intends to compete in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. For the first time since the 1900 Paris Games, cricket will be played in the Olympics, and Cummins wishes to be part of it.

Cricket will make a historic return to the Olympic Games after a 128-year hiatus, with its participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics ratified by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) last year.

This huge development represents a watershed moment for the sport, which has been steadily gaining popularity worldwide.

The 2028 Olympics will include both men’s and women’s T20 cricket competitions. The ICC has proposed six-team competitions for both men and women.

“You want to be part of it”- Pat Cummins hopes to play in LA28 Olympics

Pat Cummins has won ICC trophies in all three formats: T20 World Cup in 2021, ODI World Cups in 2015 and 2023 and World Test Championship in 2023. He was the captain of the Australian team that won the ICC ODI World Cup and World Test Championship last year.

He is excited about cricket being part of the Olympics in 2028 and said he’d love to play in it.

“Watching the Olympics, it got us all excited. You want to be part of it right there in the middle. I’d love to be on that side (at LA28). I think I’ll be 35 or something, so hopefully still there or thereabouts. Honestly right now, it feels a long way away. Maybe once we get closer and start building into it, everyone gets a bit more excited,” Cummins told Fox Sports.

Pat Cummins is currently on a two-month break from cricket as he wishes to be fit and fresh for the five-match series against India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
