Australia captain Pat Cummins reacted to England's loss against Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Australia captain Pat Cummins was asked to react to England’s fourth loss in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and the pacer could barely keep his smile in control while answering the question.

Jos Buttler, England's captain, won the toss and elected to bat first. Bengaluru has been a batting paradise so far in the World Cup 2023, but England's innings proved to be rather different. Dawid Malan (28) and Jonny Bairstow (30) gave England a great start, contributing 45 runs in 6.3 overs.

However, the Sri Lankan spinners removed them, with Angelo Mathews taking Malan's wicket on his return to Sri Lanka. Following that, it was a parade of wickets for the England side. The England scorecard read: Joe Root (3), Jos Buttler (8), Liam Livingstone (1), Moeen Ali (15), Ben Stokes (43), Chris Woakes (0), and David Willey (14*). In 33.2 overs, they were knocked out for 156 runs.

Lahiru Kumara grabbed three wickets for Sri Lanka, while Kasun Rajitha and Angelo Mathews each took two.

In reply, Kusal Perera (4) and Kusal Mendis (11) were both cheaply lost. Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama, on the other hand, added an unbroken 137-run stand to get Sri Lanka over the line with 146 deliveries to spare.

Sadeera concluded with 65 not out off 54 balls, while Nissanka Nissanka stayed unbeaten on 77 off 83 balls.

Pat Cummins chuckles when asked to react to England’s loss to Sri Lanka in Bengaluru

Pat Cummins appeared for the pre-match press conference, ahead of their encounter with New Zealand in Dharamshala on October 28. Cummins was asked about England's dismal run, which continued with a thrashing loss to Sri Lanka, thereby ending the reigning champions' chances of repeating their accomplishments from four years ago.

The star paceman chuckled as he said: “It was sad to see. I don’t have much more for you.”
