Nitish Reddy has been ruled out due to a quadriceps injury.
The Indian Cricket Team will tour Ireland for a two-match T20I series on June 26 and 28, followed by a five-match T20I series and three ODI games against England next month. India now face a new challenge ahead of these upcoming series.
India’s key all-rounder Hardik Pandya is already out of the UK tour after sustaining an injury in the Indian Premier League (IPL), in which he captained Mumbai Indians (MI).
Nitish Kumar Reddy was selected as his replacement in the squad for both T20I series. However, he also sustained an injury in the previous ODI series against Afghanistan. He was injured in the third ODI on June 20.
After a medical assessment by the BCCI team, Reddy has been advised to take rest and skip the forthcoming series against Ireland and England.
On Tuesday, the BCCI officially announced that Reddy has been ruled out of the tours of Ireland and England due to a quadriceps injury. This has come as a major blow for India as both experienced seam all-rounders Hardik and Reddy will not be available for the crucial away campaigns.
Suryansh Shedge replaces Nitish Kumar Reddy in India’s squad

Uncapped Indian all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has been picked as a replacement for injured Nitish Reddy in India’s squad for the T20I series against Ireland and England. He has been picked after his impressive performances in the recently concluded Tri-Nation A Series in Sri Lanka 2026.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has named Suryansh Shedge as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy in India’s squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England,” BCCI said in an official statement.
“Nitish reported left quadriceps discomfort after the third ODI against Afghanistan on June 20. Following a subsequent medical assessment, the BCCI Medical Team has recommended a period of rehabilitation, ruling him out of both T20I series,” the statement further added.
Shedge is a batting all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium-pace. He has not played in any format for India so far but has featured in 12 IPL games.
He was a member of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2026, scoring 158 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 175.56, including a fifty. He did not bowl in any of the matches.
In the Tri-Nation A Series in Sri Lanka 2026, the 23-year-old scored 147 runs in five ODI matches at an average of 36.75 and a strike rate of 120.49. He also hammered a half-century and played a crucial role in India’s title-winning campaign. He also bowled 23 overs during the tournament.
