The PBKS vs DC clash will take place on Saturday afternoon in Mohali.

The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) will start on Friday. Now fans will be treated to blockbuster games every day for almost the next two months. The second game of the tournament will also be a big one. Two teams searching for their maiden title will clash against each other.

Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur, Mohali on Saturday afternoon. The big news is that Rishabh Pant is back and will lead the team. His absence was felt by the fans, and the team struggled in the middle order. But he will surely add a lot of value to the batting order. Here we will talk about the predicted XI for Delhi in PBKS vs DC clash on Saturday.

PBKS vs DC: Delhi’s playing 11 vs DC

1. Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw will be opening the batting, and this could be a big season for him. He is eyeing to make a comeback into the Indian national side, and performing well in the IPL 2024 can be the first step towards it. But for that, he needs to start well. Shaw is coming off a decent Ranji season with Mumbai and will look to take forward that against PBKS on Saturday.

2. David Warner

David Warner will be the key for Delhi at the top. He has been in good form and was their highest scorer in 2023. But it looked like, due to the captaincy pressure, he couldn’t play freely. But now he is completely free, and we all know what Warner can do on his day, and PBKS will pray that they can keep him quiet.

3. Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh will be another big factor if Delhi can get an edge against Punjab. The Australian all-rounder is a true match-winner in both departments. But with the bat, he just needs a few overs to turn the game around. He is in good form and will also be useful with the ball.

4. Rishabh Pant (c)

Rishabh Pant will be back at No. 4 and that will be a big plus. He played a few practice matches and looked good. It will be a challenge for him to return to competitive cricket, but he is a fighter and will like to start well. He can play aggressively against spin and pace both, and we believe he will come with an attacking mindset in the first game.

5. Tristan Stubbs (wk)

Pant has been cleared by the National Cricket Academy to keep wickets in the IPL, but considering his return to the field after 14 months, DC team management might opt for another wicket-keeper to start with. So we might see Tristan Stubbs coming in as a wicket-keeper. His inclusion will give DC an aggressive option. This guy is like Heinrich Klaasen, who had a brilliant SA20. He can be the finisher DC lacked in 2023, and we might see glimpses on Saturday.

6. Axar Patel

Axar Patel batting at No. 6 gives DC the option to add one more bowler to the lineup. The southpaw is a brilliant batter and did well in both departments last season. He will be coming back from an injury but might look rusty, but with so much experience under his belt, he can be pretty dangerous for his old franchise PBKS.

7. Lalit Yadav

Lalit Yadav is likely to get an edge at No. 7 because of his all-round skills. He bats in the final overs, scores quickly, and then also bowls useful overs of spin. He can be a surprise package because not many will expect a threat from him. That is the time when he can do well.

8. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav will be the big hurdle to cross for PBKS batters. Punjab don’t have many batters that can play spin well, and we also know that Kuldeep did for India in the past six months or so. With his different variations, he can turn the ball on any surface, which makes him a difficult bowler to face.

9. Anrich Nortje

If Punjab Kings have Rabada, then Delhi Capitals have Anrich Nortje. He will be bowling thunderbolts at a speed of over 145 km/h. And a rapid pace can certainly trouble any batter in the world. It will be his job to bowl fast with good length, and he has been successful for DC.

10. Mukesh Kumar

The last year has been pretty good for Mukesh Kumar, as he has made his debut for India across formats and improved as a bowler. He is a hit-the-deck-hard bowler who swings the ball enough to trouble the batter. He will be bowling with the new ball, and one or two wickets early on will be enough to take his team into a good situation.

11. Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed is expected to be the bowler who will be bowling at the start and in the final overs. The left-arm pacer did well for Delhi last season and showed that he still had that sharpness in him. His left-arm angle makes him difficult to face sometimes, and PBKS has four right-handers in their top six.
