PBKS vs DC: PBKS playing 11 vs DC, Match 2, IPL 2024 - Predicted
Second match of the IPL 2024 will see a PBKS vs DC clash on Saturday afternoon in Mohali.
The first week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will provide two spectacular games. The first game of the double header on Saturday will be played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Chandigarh. Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the Punjab-based franchise against DC. PBKS have not made the playoffs since 2014.
Hence, it will be a big job on the shoulders of Dhawan in the IPL 2024. They have a good side that has a number of match-winners, but it depends on how well they perform on the day. For that, they need to start well with a win on Saturday. Here we will talk about the best possible XI for Punjab in the PBKS vs DC clash in Chandigarh.
PBKS vs DC: Punjab’s playing 11 vs DC
1. Jonny Bairstow
Jonny Bairstow missed the last season due to an injury that certainly affected the franchise. However, now he is completely fit and will be available for the entire season. It will certainly give PBKS a good boost. The kind of player Bairstow is, he can take the game away on Saturday, and his wicket will be very important.
2. Shikhar Dhawan (c)
PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan has been out of action for a long time, and he will surely be waiting for the chance. The southpaw has been a strong pillar in the batting order for Punjab Kings, and his form will be very crucial for the team. He has been a top performer, and if he gets set, that can take his team into the driver’s seat.
3. Prabhsimran Singh
Prabhsimran Singh had a breakthrough season in 2023 in the absence of Bairstow and batted at the top. He also scored a century in IPL 2023. Well, he will be confident enough to carry on his form. He has an exciting talent, and he will be looking to make it big.
4. Liam Livingstone
Liam Livingstone can be a game-changer on Saturday. The English all-rounder is a proven match-winner who adds value in both departments. He bowls useful overs with the ball and takes wickets, but when it comes to performing with the bat, Livingstone can change the game’s situation in a span of a few overs.
5. Sam Curran
Sam Curran will be one of the key players for PBKS because he contributes to all three departments. Curran bowls with the new ball and also bowls at death. Then he has become an improved power-hitter and has played some good knocks for Punjab Kings last season. Hence, he will be very important on Saturday against DC.
6. Jitesh Sharma (wk)
A batting strike of around 160 is exceptional, and Jitesh Sharma is Punjab’s biggest game-changer. He has a defined role in playing quick cameos, and he has been pretty successful in that. His good performances also earned him T20I debut for India. Now, with international experience under his belt, he can do even better for Punjab
7. Rishi Dhawan
The veteran all-rounder Rishi Dhawan will be a crucial part of this lineup. He is a powerful striker of the cricket ball and bowls his overs in the middle phase to restrict the batter from scoring. His dual role will be a key for PBKS, and if they want to beat DC, Dhawan’s performance matters a lot.
8. Harshal Patel
PBKS bought Harshal Patel for a price of INR 11.75 crore, which means they trust him. Though Harshal didn’t have a great season for RCB in 2023, his experience matters a lot. That’s what attracted PBKS to sign him. Harshal can be very hard to pick, and there are different types of slow balls that can prove to be wicket-taking ones.
9. Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada will be the biggest weapon for PBKS against DC. The South African pacer will be leading the bowling attack, and his four overs will decide which way the game is going. If somehow DC can play him well, they can put PBKS under pressure. But it looks a bit difficult.
10. Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh is India’s premier pacer in the shortest format, and he will be a challenge for DC batters on Saturday. The left-arm pacer is known for his pin-point yorkers and swing, which make life difficult for the batters. He is a wicket-taker, and if he can remove a few early wickets, DC has an inexperienced middle order.
11. Rahul Chahar
Rahul Chahar is likely to be the first-choice spinner. He was Punjab’s key bowler in 2023 and was very economical. Chahar didn’t let the batters get away in the middle overs, and that will be his job on Saturday. DC have four right-handers in the top 7, and he can be very effective against them.
