PCB sacked the whole selection committee of Pakistan after horrible performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has reached the final stage. Four teams will play the semi-finals, and the finals will be played on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This tournament has been pretty impressive in terms of record-breaking moments. But it has also been incredibly poor for some teams that were supposed to play in the semi-finals. The defending champions, England, finished in the 7th place, while Pakistan also had a similar story.

Babar Azam and his men started the tournament with two wins, but then they lost four consecutive games, which almost closed all doors for them. Though there was a slight chance, which was mostly dependent on how other teams performed, it also didn't end in their favor. Eventually, Pakistan finished in fifth place with four wins out of the nine games they played.

Notably, it was the third time in a row that Pakistan couldn't qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup. The last time they did it was in 2011 under Shahid Afridi. Pakistan also lost to Afghanistan, which certainly created chaos within the team management and the cricket board. Meanwhile, fast bowling coach Morne Morkel also resigned, whose contract was there until December.

And now Pakistan Cricket Board has taken a further step and sacked the entire selection committee with immediate effect. This decision came after Pakistan's horrible display during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. There are some speculations that PCB is also planning to fire the team's director, Mickey Arthur, as well.

This hasn't been the way Pakistan would have liked it, as they entered the tournament at the top of the rankings, but they couldn't challenge the bigger opposition. There might be more such actions expected by the PCB in the coming days. It will be interesting to see if there will be any changes in the team and captaincy as well.
