Peter Moor is one of only 17 players to play test cricket for two countries.

At the age of 34, Peter Moor, the elusive cricket player who played for two different countries, has retired from international cricket. After starting his career with Zimbabwe and then switching teams to play for Ireland, Moor has finally hung up his boots, capping an incredible and intriguing career.

Moor, who was born in Harare, made his Zimbabwean debut against Bangladesh in an ODI in 2014. He played 49 ODIs and 21 T20Is for Zimbabwe over the following few years, amassing 364 runs in T20Is, including an unbeaten 92, and 827 ODI runs, including four half-centuries.

From 2016 to 2018, he played eight test matches for Zimbabwe and scored 513 runs, including five fifties. He then made his test debut for Ireland in April 2023 against Bangladesh. He is one of the 17 cricketers to play test cricket for two different countries.

Because his paternal grandmother was Irish, Peter Moor capitalized on his Irish heritage and started a new life in Ireland. He played seven test matches for Ireland after making his test debut for the country in 2023.

When he scored 79 runs against his former team, Zimbabwe, in July 2024, it was his best performance to date. That was his only fifty in test cricket for Ireland. Moor struck 4 and 30 in a test match against Zimbabwe in February 2025, which was his last appearance for his country.

He had previously hoped to play in the World Cup for Ireland, but it was not to be. He played his final professional match for Munster Reds in Dublin on July 10, 2025, just one day before he announced his retirement.

Moor scored 35 runs off 16 balls in a fast-paced innings that included three sixes and two fours. In the same game, Curtis Campher made news picking five wickets in five balls as his team triumphed by 100 runs.

Moor is anticipated to play domestic and T20 league cricket going forward despite the fact that his international career is over.
