Top 5 players who have been dropped from India's squad for Women's T20 World Cup 2026

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead India in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

Preparations for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 have commenced as the Board of Control for India (BCCI) announced India Women’s squad for the tournament on Saturday (May 2). The ICC event will be played in June and July in England and Wales.

Harmanpreet Kaur is set to captain India Women in the campaign, where they will aim for their maiden title. Smriti Mandhana is named as the vice-captain, while Richa Ghosh and Yastika Bhatia are picked as the wicketkeepers.

Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Thakur, and Radha Yadav are a few experienced members in the squad. However, a few top players have been overlooked for the tournament. Below are the top players who have been dropped from India’s squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Players overlooked for India’s squad for Women’s T20 World Cup

Harleen Deol

Batting all-rounder Harleen Deol is the first name on this list. The 27-year-old was part of India’s squad in the Women’s ODI World Cup last year and also featured in the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

This year, the right-handed batter has played one ODI against Australia. However, she did not feature in the recent T20I series against South Africa. She has played 28 WT20Is so far.

Amanjot Kaur

Amanjot Kaur is another batting all-rounder who has been overlooked for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The 25-year-old featured in the ODI and T20I series against Australia Women in February; however, she was not picked for the recent T20I series against South Africa. With 23 T20Is in her kitty, she has decent experience in the shortest format.

Kashvee Gautam

Kashvee Gautam is a surprising omission from India Women’s squad as she was part of the T20I series against South Africa Women last month.

She also featured in three games, picking one wicket in one clash and going wicketless in two. Since the right-arm pacer could not make a mark with her performance, she was dropped from the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad.

Anushka Sharma

Like Kashvee, Anushka Sharma was part of the recent T20I series against South Africa, where she also made her T20I debut. Playing three games, she registered scores of 28, 27, and 17. Since she could not come up with a decent batting show in any match, the BCCI did not consider her for the Women’s T20 World Cup.

Sneh Rana

With 31 WT20Is in her kitty, Sneh Rana is an experienced player for India Women. The spin all-rounder was part of Australia’s tour in March, where she played one ODI and one test. However, she was snubbed from the T20I series against South Africa Women last month.
