The RCB vs SRH, match 1 of IPL 2026, took place at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns in the opening game of the Indian Premier League 2026 on March 28. RCB won the encounter by six wickets to start the campaign on a winning note.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to field first. They started well by getting three wickets in the powerplay, dismissing Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

However, SRH captain Ishan Kishan (80) scored a half-century and made a spectacular stand of 97 runs with Heinrich Klaasen (31) for the fourth wicket. Towards the end, Aniket Verma (43 off 18) added crucial runs, taking the scoreboard to 201/9 in the first innings.

Jacob Duffy and Romario Shephed picked 3 wickets each. In the chase, RCB lost opener Phil Salt cheaply for eight runs. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal gave a brilliant start, taking the scoreboard to 76/1 in the powerplay. Reaching 126/2 in 10 overs, RCB dominated the chase from the start.

With half-centuries by Virat Kohli (69*) and Devdutt Padikkal (61), RCB chased down the target within 16 overs by six wickets and won the match like a walk in the park.
