Another day and another thrilling game in the WPL 2026. On Sunday, the fourth game was played between the Gujarat Giants Women and the Delhi Capitals Women at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, and it was a record-breaking game. A few records were broken in Navi Mumbai, including a hat-trick.
The game started with Jemimah Rodrigues winning the toss and putting GG-W to bat first, and it was carnage by Sophie Devine. She scored 32 runs in the sixth over of Sneh Rana, and GG-W finished the powerplay at 80/0. It didn’t stop here; GG-W reached 122/1 in just 10 overs.
Though DC-W pulled things back, Nandini Sharma bowled an incredible spell and took 5/33, including a hat-trick in the final over of the innings. She took four wickets in the 20th over. Devine was unlucky to miss the century.
She played a blinder of 95 off just 42 balls, at a strike rate of 226.19. Captain Ash Gardner also chipped in with 49 off 26 as GG-W finished at 209 all out in 20 overs. It was the highest total for GG-W in the WPL.
It was a mountain to climb, and DC-W lost Shafali Verma (14 off 12) early. But it was followed by a record stand of 90 runs for the second wicket between two South Africans. Lizelle Lee took charge and scored 86 off 54 balls. Once she got out, Laura Wolvaardt took charge and scored 77 off 38 balls.
She got out on 19.5 overs, and it left DC-W needing five runs off the last ball. Devine, who showcased her brilliance with the bat, shone with the ball as well and took two wickets and conceded only two runs in the final over to pull things back. DC-W fell short by just four runs and finished at 205/5.

GG-W won their second consecutive game and earned two more points on the board. That helped them move to the top of the table with four points and an NRR of +0.350. MI-W have slipped to the second spot with two points.
With two consecutive defeats, DC-W have slipped down the points table. RCB-W are placed in third with two points, followed by UP-W in fourth place.
