The defending champion, Lahore Qalandars, started the PSL 2026 with a win over Hyderabad Kingsmen.
The opening game of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) ended with a one-sided result. The defending champion, Lahore Qalandars, took on the debutant, Hyderabad Kingsmen, on Thursday at Gaddafi Stadium.
Shaheen Afridi won the toss and decided to bat first. They had a great start with an 84-run opening stand between Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Naeem (30 off 19). Fakhar looked good and scored 53 off 39 balls. Haseebullah Khan also played a good knock of 40* off 28.
But the cameos from Sikandar Raza (24 off 10) and Shaheen Afridi (12* off 2) took the Qalandars to 199/6. It was a massive score to chase, and the Kingsmen needed a good opening stand. But they had a poor opening stand, losing both openers within four overs.
Captain Marnus Labuschagne tried to stay for a while but got out after scoring 26 off 22 balls. He was the top scorer for his team. Hyderabad Kingsmen got all out for 130 runs and lost the game by 69 runs.

This was the first game of the new season, and the defending champion, Lahore Qalandars, have opened their account with a win. They are at the top with two points. On the other hand, Hyderabad Kingsmen have slipped to the bottom after the defeat.
Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, and Rawalpindi Pindiz have not played a game so far. On Friday, Quetta Gladiators will take on Karachi Kings, and the winner will earn their first points on the board.
PSL 2026: Most runs
Fakhar Zaman scored the first fifty of the PSL 2026, and with 53 runs, he has the most runs in the tournament after the first game.
He is followed by his team mates Haseebullah Khan (40) and Mohammad Naeem (30). Marnus Labuschagne and Sikandar Raza are next on the list.
