Three-time finalist Delhi Capitals Women are the third and final team to qualify for the playoffs of the WPL 2026. They beat UP Warrioz Women in the final league game on Sunday to secure a place.
The match began with a lucky toss win for Jemimah Rodrigues, and she opted to bowl first. They got off to a great start as the in-form Meg Lanning was dismissed on the very first ball of the match. There was nothing afterwards, and UPW-W only did the catch-up job.
They lost their top three wickets in the powerplay and were reduced to 76/7 in 12.3 overs. Asha Sobhana Jay (13 off 13) and Shikha Pandey (23* off 13) tried hard, but UPW-W only finished with 122/8 in the first innings.
This was the second-lowest first-inning total for UPW-W. Chasing the score, DC-W had a tentative start. Lizelle Lee also got out cheaply for ten runs. But Laura Wolvaardt played well for her 47 off 36 balls and took her team near the finish line.
Shafali Verma played a cautious knock of 29 off 33 balls but got out just before the win. But captain Jemimah Rodrigues made sure that DC-W crossed the line. She scored an unbeaten 34 off 18 balls and hit the winning run to take DC-W to the playoffs.
