PBKS are still in contention to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by seven wickets in the 68th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 on May 23. With this win, PBKS finally ended their six-match losing streak and also kept their playoffs hopes alive.
In this do-or-die match, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first. Josh Inglis’ 72 off 44 balls, followed by Ayush Badoni’s quickfire 43 off 18 balls, helped LSG post 196. Arshdeep Singh conceded 52 runs in three overs while Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up two wickets each.
Chasing a target of 197, PBKS lost two early wickets. However, Prabhsimran Singh’s and Shreyas Iyer’s 140-run partnership helped last year’s runners-up get into a comfortable position. PBKS skipper Iyer later completed his maiden IPL century with a maximum, sealing the victory for his side in 18 overs.

The top two spots of the points table are secured by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT), who will also face each other in Qualifier 1 on May 26. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have also qualified for the playoffs with 18 points in 14 matches.
PBKS are currently placed fourth with 15 points, followed by Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in fifth and sixth positions with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are seventh with 12 points, and Delhi Capitals (DC) are eighth, with still a match in hand. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians are ninth, and LSG are tenth with eight points each. These four teams have been eliminated from the tournament.
