Former India cricketer Pragyan Ojha is primed to fill one of the spots in the Ajit Agarkar-led Indian Men’s Cricket Team selection panel.
A day after it was revealed that Ajit Agarkar, the head of the panel, had had his term extended by one year, till June 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a job posting on its website on Friday for the positions of four women’s selectors, a junior men’s selector, and two national selectors for the men’s team. Applications for the positions of selectors must be submitted by September 10th.
Between 2009 and 2013, Pragyan Ojha participated in six T20Is, 18 ODIs, and 24 test matches. He took 113 wickets in test matches, including seven five-wicket hauls, and was extremely deadly on grounds with turn. He claimed 10 T20I wickets and 21 ODI wickets.

Pragyan Ojha to fill in the seat from the South Zone

Former fast bowler Ajit Agarkar is currently in charge of the men’s selection committee. Additionally, it includes Sharath (South Zone), Ajay Ratra (North Zone), Subroto Banerjee (East Zone), and Shiv Sunder Das (Central Zone).
According to the Times of India, former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha is favored to join the South Zone as a national selector. Ojha from the South Zone is anticipated to take Sridharan Sharath’s place, whose term expires in September, and his appointment is likely to be the only alteration made to the men’s selection committee.
Sharath may actually replace Thilak Naidu as the junior chief selector. Sharath has served as a national senior selector since January 2023.
The board has established the eligibility requirements and invited applications for two positions. A candidate must have participated in at least seven Test matches, thirty First-Class matches, or ten ODIs and twenty First-Class matches in order to be eligible.
The nominee should also have retired from the game at least five years ago and not have served on any BCCI cricket committee for a total of five years.
