Indian Cricket Team fast bowler Prasidh Krishna opened up on his spat with England Cricket Team batter Joe Root on day two of the ongoing fifth test. He said that he didn’t understand why the batter reacted the way he did, as he didn’t say much to him.
The second day of the ongoing fifth test between England and India at the Oval in London was marred by a verbal spat between Prasidh Krishna and Joe Root. The two shared some harsh words, and it even involved KL Rahul and umpire Kumar Dharmasena.
As Joe Root walked out to bat, Prasidh Krishna had something to say to him, and this didn’t go well with Root. The England batter, who is known for his calm and composed nature, broke character and was fuming in anger at the pacer. The fast bowler also didn’t step back as he kept saying something. The umpire then had to warn him to stop the fight.

“I don’t know why Rooty [reacted],” he told the BBC’s Test Match Special. “I just said, ‘you’re looking in great shape’ and then it turned into a lot of abuse and all of that.”
Prasidh Krishna admitted that they had a plan to distract Root by engaging him in a verbal duel. He explained:
“That was the plan, but I didn’t expect the couple of words I said to get such a big reaction from him,” he said at the media briefing.
He is a legend of the game – Prasidh Krishna on Joe Root

“That’s just who I am when I’m bowling, when I’m enjoying [my game],” he said. “If it means that I have a bit of a chatter with the batter… and it does help me when I can get under the nerves of the batsman and get a reaction from them. But I love the guy that he is. He is a legend of the game and I think it is great when two people are out there wanting to do the best and be a winner at a given moment.”
Prasidh Krishna was the star with the ball for India in the first innings as he picked four wickets. He made a return to the team after being dropped for the last two games and made a statement. His heroics with the ball didn’t allow England to take a big first innings lead.
