Pratika Rawal was ruled out of the semi-final and final of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
The Indian Women’s Cricket Team opener Pratika Rawal has revealed that she will get her World Cup-winning medal. She confirmed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah has assured her that he will send the medal.
One of the major reasons behind India winning ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 was the opening batter Pratika Rawal. The right-hander formed a formidable opening pair with Smriti Mandhana and helped the team get crucial starts in the tournament.
However, just ahead of the semi-final, in the clash against Bangladesh, she twisted her ankle and got hurt badly. She was then ruled out of the semi-final as well as the final, which came as a big blow as she was the second-highest run-getter for India in the tournament.
After India won the tournament, she was there in the stadium, celebrating with the team on a wheelchair. But what caught the attention of many was that she didn’t get the winning medal, which the rest of the players got. The reason behind that was that India added Shafali Verma to the squad as her replacement and Pratika was released from the team, meaning that she wasn’t part of the 15-member squad.

The first time I opened it up (medal given to her by support staff) and, I looked towards it, I was almost in tears. I’m not a person who cries a lot but that emotion was real, that feeling of join us.”
She added how Jay Shah made the arrangements, adding that she took the medal of one of the support staff till her medal comes. She said:
“Jay Shah told us that he is asking the ICC if they can send a medal. So that medal is going to take some while, to reach me. So, one of the support staff gave me their medal to wear for now. Consider that I have my own. So, the medal is on the way,” she said .
