Prithvi Shaw breaks every record in County cricket, smashes 'double century' in One day game

Prithvi Shaw joined in Northamptonshire for the Metro Bank One-day cup tournament.
Discarded Indian opening batter Prithvi Shaw has set the county stage on fire with a double century in the Metro Bank One Day Cup tournament for Northamptonshire. Prithvi Shaw has also become the first Asian player to smash a double century in the one-day format of county cricket. He is only the third batter in county cricket history to smash a double century. In this very innings, he has broken almost every record in the one-day championship. Shaw joined Northamptonshire just three days before the Metro Bank One Day Cup was scheduled to begin.
Prithvi Shaw shattered the record for scoring the most runs in an inning in a county league game, overtaking Kent’s Ollie Robinson and Sussex’s Ali Orr, who scored 206 runs. Shaw has smashed 244 runs in 153 balls, smashing 28 fours and 11 sixes in his inning. Shaw completed his century in 81 balls and then raced towards another 100 in just 48 balls. With this double hundred, Prithvi Shaw has also joined Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Travis Head, and Ali Brown in scoring multiple double tonnes in the one-day format. Rohit Sharma has had three, While Ali Brown, Travis Head, and now Prithvi Shaw have had two in their careers.
Prithvi Shaw’s 244-run inning against Somerset put Northamptonshire in command, as his inning allowed Northamptonshire to score 415 runs in their 50 overs. Shaw came in as an opener and went out in the final over looking for a big shot to complete another milestone of 250 runs. Shaw failed to touch 250 and join Rohit Sharma on an elite list. Rohit Sharma scored 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Narayan Jagadeeshan holds the record for scoring the most runs in a single inning. Jagadeesan scored 277 runs.
Prithvi Shaw’s innings makes way for his comeback
Along with Rohit Sharma and Narayan Jagadeesan, there are two more names on the list of batters scoring more than 250 runs in an inning. Rohit Sharma, Narayan Jagadeesan, Alistair Brown, and D’arcy Shory are on this list. This inning may not put him among the contenders for the World Cup squad, but if he remains consistent from here on, he will definitely pave the way for his comeback with the Indian team. Shaw was discarded after his poor showing with the bat and failed miserably in the Indian Premier League for the Delhi Capitals.
