Prithvi Shaw made his international debut in 2018.

Prithvi Shaw has been under the critics’ radar for his work ethics over the past few years.

Shaw made his test debut against the West Indies in 2018 at Rajkot and made headlines with a sensational century. His performance in his first international game raised high expectations, with fans touting him as India’s next batting great.

However, Prithvi failed to maintain his form after the Rajkot test and has only played five tests, scoring at an average of 42.37 until 2024.

Prithvi’s poor form continued in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, leading to his exclusion from the Delhi Capitals’ playing XI. Recently, in a surprising development, Shaw went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Shaw boasts an impressive record in the IPL. The Indian opener has played 79 games and scored 1,892 runs at a strike rate of 148. More than his batting ability, it is his discipline and work ethic that are cited as the reasons behind his exclusion from the IPL 2025.

To add to Shaw’s woes, he has been dropped from Mumbai’s squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well.
