Rohit Sharma has made 19 runs in three innings in the BGT 2024-25 so far.

Rohit Sharma has made merely 19 runs in three innings in the BGT 2024-25 so far. The Indian captain has struggled in test cricket in the last few series, raising concerns about his future in the test team.

Sharma has failed to gain any momentum in the ongoing tour of Australia. Rohit has so far registered scores of 3, 6 and 10 in three innings across Adelaide and Brisbane.

Rohit’s struggles against the red ball continued on the fourth day of the Gabba test when he was dismissed cheaply by Pat Cummins.

Cummins unsettled Rohit with good-length deliveries and followed it with a full-length ball that prompted a loose push, resulting in an outside edge. This dismissal marked the sixth time the Australian captain has dismissed Rohit in test cricket.

Rohit’s former teammate Cheteshwar Pujara has shared his thoughts on the ongoing struggles of the Indian skipper in the BGT 2024-25.

Cheteshwar Pujara on Rohit Sharma’s poor form

Speaking to Star Sports, Pujara noted that the delivery from Cummins was not ideal for a drive and that Rohit should have opted for a more defensive approach.

Pujara said, “It wasn’t a length where you can drive. We have seen that even a fuller-length ball, it’s hard to drive. He kind of tried to punch that ball. He should have defended that ball, allowed the ball to come to him rather than going for that ball.

Pujara further acknowledged Rohit’s shift to middle-order in the BGT 2024-25 as a major factor behind his poor form in the series.

Pujara added, “He has been opening the innings, now he’s batting at number 6. That is for the team, but I still feel that when you are so much used to opening the innings and when you have to wait, then you put yourself in that doubt. I mean, it doesn’t help you when you’re opening innings and you suddenly start batting at number 6.
