Punjab Kings (PBKS) strongest playing XI for IPL 2025
Punjab Kings finished ninth in the IPL 2024.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) will look for a change in fortunes with a new look squad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After a disappointing run in IPL 2024, where they finished ninth in the league, PBKS entered the mega auction with the biggest purse of INR 110.5 crores.
The IPL 2025 mega auction has been PBKS’s best auction in many years, which could also be down to new head coach Ricky Ponting’s strategies. The franchise started the auction by buying the first player to enter the auction, Arshdeep Singh through the Right to Match (RTM) card for INR 18 crores.
Shortly after, the franchise splurged INR 26.75 crores for Shreyas Iyer. Thanks to PBKS, Iyer is now the second-most expensive player in IPL history, just behind Rishabh Pant, who went to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crores.
Iyer’s inclusion will not only strengthen PBKS’ batting lineup, but the chief reason for his inclusion was to have a reliable, long-term skipper. PBKS’ other huge buy came in the form of IPL’s leading wicket-taker, Yuzvendra Chahal, who was roped in for INR 18 crores.
PBKS have also brought back the Australian all-round duo of Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell, who will join the franchise for a salary of INR 11 and INR 4.2 crores respectively. The experienced duo will provide a valuable boost to Punjab’s power-hitting reserve.
Local boy Nehal Wadhera and Priyansh Arya have been added as uncapped Indian players in the batting order.
PBKS have a balanced and strong first-choice XI. The franchise has a good mix of experienced and young Indian players. Furthermore, they have acquired overseas T20 match-winners in Marco Jansen, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis and Glenn Maxwell.
Punjab will be surely a team to watch out for in the upcoming season.

Prabhsimran Singh, Josh Inglis, Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Nehal Wadhera, Shashank Singh, Marco Jansen, Harpreet Brar, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Yash Thakur (Impact Player)
