Rachin Ravindra breaks Jonny Bairstow's record of scoring most runs in World Cup debut edition

Rachin Ravindra has scored 565 runs in 8 innings in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has been an excellent find for the New Zealand side in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Ravindra played another magnificent knock to power New Zealand a much-needed win against Sri Lanka at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This win has also made the Kiwis’ place almost certain in the semi-finals. New Zealand have almost fixed their semi-final clash against India in Mumbai. 

Rachin Ravindra will remember the ongoing tournament forever in his life as it has provided him an opportunity to etch his name in fans’ memory as well as in the record books. With a 42 runs knock in 34 balls, Ravindra has broken multiple records in the World Cup and also became leading run-scorer of the ongoing tournament leaving behind the likes of Virat Kohli and Quinton De Kock. Ravindra smashed 3 fours and 3 sixes in his knock. 

Ravindra overtakes Jonny Bairstow

The Kiwi all-rounder had a brilliant debut World Cup season and overtook English wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow to become the batter with the highest aggregate of runs in debut edition of World Cup. Ravindra needed 10 runs to leave behind Jonny Bairstow, who scored 532 runs in 11 games for England in the World Cup 2019. Bairstow made his debut in the World Cup 2019 which England went on to win. Ravindra now has 565 runs in 9 innings. 

Rachin Ravindra has also overtaken master blaster Sachin Tendulkar to become the leading run-scorer in one edition under 25 years of age. Rachin is currently 23 years old and has scored 565 runs in the World Cup 2023. Sachin Tendulkar scored 523 runs in 1996 World Cup when he was under-25 age group. Rachin Ravindra will have an opportunity to go past Sachin’s 673 run mark if Pakistan fail to pull off a miraculous win over England. 

Rachin Ravindra scored 42 runs in 34 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes in his innings against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. Rachin Ravindra has smashed 3 centuries in this edition of the World Cup and scored 565 runs so far in 8 innings. New Zealand have almost placed their feet in the semi-final round with a resounding win over Sri Lanka at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. New Zealand registered their 5th win in the league round and broke their losing streak after 4 consecutive losses.
