Rachin Ravindra becomes first New Zealand batsman to hit 3 centuries in one edition of ICC Cricket World Cup

Rachin Ravindra smashed his third hundred of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Pakistan on Saturday.

New Zealand had a great start to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 when they won the first four games of the tournament. However, they also suffered three consecutive defeats, and their place in the semi-finals came under scanner. As a result, the ongoing game against Pakistan in Bengaluru has become a must-win contest for them. Despite all those hiccups for New Zealand in the tournament, one thing was consistent for them, and it was Rachin Ravindra.

The 23-years-old, who is playing his maiden World Cup for New Zealand, got his chance to bat at the top of the order in the absence of Kane Williamson. Starting his career as a spin bowling all-rounder, Ravindra has now become New Zealand’s highest and second-highest run-scorer in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

Rachin Ravindra becomes first Kiwi batter to score three World Cup hundreds in single edition

In the must-win game against Pakistan, Rachin Ravindra has come up with a brilliant hundred. He smashed an 88-ball hundred to give the team a good start, which has set a brilliant platform for the other hitters down the order. Ravindra was looking good for a big score but got out after scoring 108 runs off 94 balls, with 15 boundaries and one six.

Notably, it was his third hundred in the ongoing tournament, and with this, he becomes the first Kiwi batter to score three hundreds in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup. So far, he has scored 523 runs at an average and strike rate of 74.71 and 107.39, respectively.

He has also scored two half-centuries, along with the hundreds. Rachin Ravindra has also equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time World Cup records, which he made in the 1996 World Cup. Sachin made 523 runs before turning 25, and Ravindra has already made 523 now and still has a few games left to play. New Zealand are looking good in the ongoing game against Pakistan and are looking to post a big score.
