Rachin Ravindra not named after Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar

Rachin Ravindra's father gave the real reason behind the cricketers name.
New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has become a sensation for New Zealand camp with his splendid efforts in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Ravindra will be taking on India in the semi-finals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15. Ravindra has made bowlers struggle and smashed big runs in the ongoing World Cup. He is also among the leading run-scorers of the tournament, with 565 runs in nine innings.
Rachin Ravindra’s Indian origins have been a trending topic on social media. His name also has a uniqueness about it as it depicts two of the legendary Indian cricketers, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. A story also went viral when Rachin Ravindra said that his parents named him after Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Now his parents have clarified the facts and denied the viral story.
Rachin Ravindra's father fact-checks
Kiwi all-rounder Rachin Ravindra’s father has now clarified that Rachin’s name connection with Rahul and Sachin was not intentional. While discussing Rachin's name, he said, “When Rachin was born, my wife suggested the name, and we didn't spend a lot of time discussing it. The name sounded good, was easy to spell, and was short, so we decided to go with it.” He added that they found out much later about Rachin’s connection with Rahul and Sachin.
Rachin’s father, Ravi Krishnamurthy, said, “It was only some years later that we realised the name was a mix of Rahul and Sachin's names. He wasn't named with the intention of making our child a cricketer or anything of the sort.” Earlier, a story went viral where it was said that, being a cricket fan, Ravi Krishnamurthy wanted to name his son after Indian cricketers, so he took ‘Ra’ from Rahul and ‘Chin’ from Sachin to name his son.
Rachin Ravindra has been on a brilliant run with 565 runs and 3 centuries in 9 innings. Rachin was brought into the playing XI as Kane Williamson was unfit to play in the first few games. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands and performed magnificently. Ravindra has also picked up five wickets in the tournament. He made a stellar World Cup debut against England at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad and smashed an unbeaten 123 runs.
