Rachin Ravindra will be resuming his test career for New Zealand.

New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has been a find for Kiwis in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Rachin Ravindra ended as the fourth leading run-scorer of the tournament with 578 runs in 10 games and picked up 5 wickets for Blackcaps. Ravindra will now shift his gears and look to replicate the same performance in the upcoming red-ball cricket against Bangladesh in a 2-match test series.

New Zealand will be taking on Bangladesh for a two-match test series starting on 28th November at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Ravindra has played only 3 test matches so far in his career and will be looking to place himself permanently in Blackcaps red-ball playing XI. Ravindra opened up about test cricket and said that he enjoys red-ball cricket very much. Ravindra made his test debut against India at Greenpark Stadium in Kanpur.

‘I enjoy going to red-ball cricket,’ says Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra said that test cricket needs more assessment of conditions. Ravindra said, “I enjoy going back to red-ball cricket after that (World Cup) because that means your intent keeps you in a good position to score, But probably here it depends on the conditions. What the pitch is doing, it’s probably going to dial that back a little bit, not as many risks. You can still play your natural game, by understanding the surface and the situation of the game dictates you.”

Rachin Ravindra added that the longevity of the test format brings calmness into the group and they will be looking to bring that. Ravindra said, “I think we sometimes don’t understand how long a Test match really is. You have five days of 90 overs each day, so there’s a lot of time here. So hopefully we can bring that calmness in the group, from the one-dayers to the red-ball stuff.” New Zealand will be commencing their ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

Rachin Ravindra has played 3 test matches in his career and scored 73 runs in 6 innings. Ravindra played a pivotal role in New Zealand’s draw against India at Greenpark Stadium in Kanpur. Ravindra has picked up 3 wickets in his test career so far. Kiwi all-rounder will be looking to replicate the World Cup performance and make a permanent place in Kiwi playing XI. Ravindra smashed 3 centuries and two half centuries in the World Cup 2023.
