Team India had a magnificent last few weeks in 50-overs cricket before heading into the big ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. India emerged victorious in Asia Cup 2023 and ended up winning the series against Australia by 2-1. These results are a morale booster for team India and its management before they begin their quest for the third World Cup title. Indian coach Rahul Dravid looks satisfied with the team's preparation and recent results in the ODI format.

Indian head coach Rahul Dravid believes that the recent two big events have resulted in great preparation for the players before heading into ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. According to him, this allowed players to reflect on their strategies, especially injured players coming back after a long layoff. Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul had a long injury break and were out of action for several months. They required some game time before the mega event.

Coach Rahul Dravid satisfied with India's progress

Coach Rahul Dravid said, “For people like Jasprit, Ashwin, Shreyas, and KL, getting game time was important, and getting that against a competitive side is a good thing. The practice games are generally 15 vs. 15, so it’s hard to get that level of intensity in those games.” India will play Netherlands and England in their two scheduled warm-up encounters before the main event begins. In the warm-up matches, teams do not announce their playing XI, and all 15 members remain part of the action.

After finishing off Australia ODI series, Rahul Dravid said that he is satisfied with the way things are going. Dravid added, “Jasprit got a couple of games and bowled his quota of 10 overs. Siraj suffered from a bug but got back and was able to bowl today. It was good to see how Ashwin bowled in the first two games, KL, and his keeping through 50 overs. Shreyas has good knocks. Happy with the way things are going.”

Team India will now assemble in Guwahati for their first warm-up match against England on September 30. Coach Rahul Dravid has asked all the players to join the camp on Thursday or Friday morning. He has also shown a little concern over the viral fever and bugs going around the team. Siraj missed the first two ODIs against Australia due to a bug, and then Ishan Kishan missed the final ODI in Rajkot due to viral fever. Both are part of India's World Cup squad.
