RR managed to win only four games under the coaching of Rahul Dravid in IPL 2025.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Rahul Dravid has intrigued everyone in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as he has been jotting down stuff on paper while sitting in the dugout during the franchise’s matches.

RR completed their 14 matches in the ongoing IPL 2025 and ended their tournament on a winning note, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Delhi by 6 wickets.

After winning the toss, RR’s Sanju Samson decided to bowl first.

While Devon Conway, Urvil Patel, R. Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja struggled in the middle order, Ayush Mhatre scored 43 in 20 balls with eight fours and one six. CSK was forced to 187/8 in 20 overs by Dewald Brevis (42 in 25 balls), Shivam Dube (39), and MS Dhoni (16). For RR, Yudhvir Singh and Akash Madhwal each claimed three wickets.

Prior to getting dismissed to Anshul Kamboj, Yashasvi Jaiswal led the powerplay with a scorching 36 in 19 balls. Then Vaibhav Suryavanshi took control, adding 98 runs with Sanju Samson (41) for the second wicket while smashing 57 in 33 balls with three sixes and three fours.

In the 18th over, Dhruv Jurel (31* in 12 balls) ended the game, and RR won by six wickets, reaching 188/4. For CSK, R. Ashwin claimed two wickets.

After finishing this RR, their IPL 2025 campaign concluded with four victories, ten defeats, and eight points.

“I just have a particular way of scoring a game”- Rahul Dravid on what he’s writing in the dugout

What Rahul Dravid has been writing during RR’s games this season is one of the most important questions surrounding IPL. The Royals coach, however, is now prepared to make the admission himself: he is keeping score.

I have a particular way of scoring a game, both the T20 game and the one-day game. I just have a particular way of scoring it, which actually helps me review the game. I can look at the scorecard, but I just score it in a particular way that I find it then very comfortable, easy to be able to review it without looking at the scorecard.

Sometimes you’re sitting back in your room at the end of a game, and you want to just be reviewing a game, and you want to think about what happened in that over, or what happened in that particular phase of the game. So I have a particular format of just scoring it, which is slightly different from just reading it from a normal scorecard. It’s just more convenient for me to be able to review that game,” Dravid said in a video.

Honestly, it’s nothing complex. It’s not rocket science. I’m not writing some great truths or anything there. It’s honestly as boring or as dumb as you can say. It’s not actually writing incidents and stuff but just the score. It keeps me involved and allows me to go back and review it,” he added.
