Jasprit Bumrah led India to a 2-0 T20I series win in Ireland on his international cricket comeback.

India coach Rahul Dravid was pleased to see star pacer Jasprit Bumrah back in action for Indian team as they prepare for Asia Cup 2023 tournament at a training camp in Alur, Karnataka.

After a very long time, India will travel to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023 with a nearly full roster. Indian team have recently been plagued by injuries , but the majority of the important players have recovered in time.

India are happy to welcome back Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Prasidh Krishna to ODI cricket after a protracted layoff. KL Rahul will extend his rehabilitation by a week. Following their comebacks from injuries, Bumrah and Krishna put on great performances during Ireland T20I series.

The focus will be on the performances of all these players as they had surgeries to rectify their respective issues, and while Bumrah and Krishna have played in Ireland T20Is, Shreyas and Rahul are yet to play a competitive match and have only participated in a practice match in NCA.

“Jasprit is someone we’ve missed a lot over the last two years” says Rahul Dravid

However, the biggest miss for India was Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the Asia Cup 2022, the T20 World Cup 2022, and the home Australia test series earlier this year due to his back issues.

Rahul Dravid conveyed his delight at the complete squad’s return, yet indicated the team would carefully manage Bumrah’s reintegration.

“Yeah, so it’s great to have them back and see them bowling, and bowling well, is truly good. “Jasprit is someone we’ve missed a lot over the last two years. I must say he’s not played a lot of games. But it’s nice to have him back and we’ll ease him into it, slowly.

“It was nice for him to get those 4 overs sort of, like the tour of Ireland, for both of them to ease in with sort of some four overs of bowling. And then now it gives us a chance in the Asia Cup to build that up and pick that up, and we have a whole month now to build that up before the World Cup as well,” Dravid was quoted by PTI.

India will begin their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Pakistan on September 2nd in Kandy, Sri Lanka, and will face Nepal on September 4th at the same venue.
