Rahul Dravid joined the Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the IPL 2025.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Rahul Dravid won’t be continuing his association with the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The sources in known have informed that the franchise is all set to bring a change in their coaching staff.
After India the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 under Rahul Dravid and his coaching tenure ended, RR roped in the former Indian coach as their head coach for IPL 2025. He replaced Kumar Sangakkara in the role as the former Sri Lanka captain was promoted as Director of Cricket.
With Rahul Dravid having a great success as the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team, it was expected that he would replicate the same kind of performances in IPL 2025 as well. However, that wasn’t the case as RR failed to make it to playoffs, and his coaching also came under massive scrutiny.
Under Rahul Dravid, RR struggled big time in the league. They bottled up easy chases and failed to find a place in the top four of the points table. The franchise managed just four wins and bagged ten losses, finishing ninth in the points table.
Rajasthan are considering changing the support staff – Source
With the team struggling, it is learned that RR are all set to undergo a massive staff overhaul. Rahul Dravid won’t be there next year, while clouds are looming over some other members of the coaching staff.
Speaking to Khel Now, the source close to developments said: “Rahul Dravid is likely to leave Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2026. Rajasthan are considering for a major overhaul of the support staff.”
Apart from Rahul Dravid, who is the head coach, Vikram Rathour (batting coach), Shane Bond (bowling coach), Dishant Yagnik (fielding coach), and Sairaj Bahutule (spin bowling coach) are some of the other members of the support staff.
After winning the IPL in 2008, RR haven’t laid their hands on the trophy again. They came close to winning the title in 2022 when they reached the final, where they faced a disappointing loss to Gujarat Titans (GT).
