England captain Jos Buttler has been associated with Rajasthan Royals' franchise in IPL and SA20.

According to a report from the British newspaper 'Telegraph' on Thursday, Rajasthan Royals, the Indian Premier League franchise, is preparing to present a highly attractive multi-year agreement to England's limited-overs captain, Jos Buttler. However, there are concerns about the potential impact on the current structure of the game, as several IPL franchises have ownership stakes in different private T20 leagues. This raises apprehensions that many prominent international players could opt out of their central contracts to pursue exclusive deals with individual clubs (franchises), allowing them to participate in multiple tournaments akin to football clubs.

As reported by 'The Telegraph', Rajasthan Royals are currently in the process of negotiating a longer-term contract with Jos Buttler. However, it is important to note that the offer has not been officially presented, and it remains uncertain whether Buttler will ultimately agree to sign the proposed deal.

"England's white-ball captain Jos Buttler is set to be offered a landmark four-year deal by his Indian premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals," the report said. "It is understood that the offer to Buttler is yet to be formally tabled, and its unclear whether the T20 World Cup winning captain intends to accept the deal."

Jos Buttler has been in excellent form for Rajasthan Royals

Since joining Rajasthan Royals in 2018, Jos Buttler has showcased his exceptional batting prowess by consistently amassing runs for the team. With an impressive record of 5 centuries and 18 half-centuries, he has proven to be a reliable run-machine for RR.

In addition to his contributions in the Indian Premier League, Buttler is also associated with another team owned by Rajasthan Royals, namely Paarl Royals, in the SA20 league.

Signing of long-term contracts could lead to changes in the way international cricket is organized

The emergence and growth of T20 leagues have had a significant impact on international cricket, as franchises now have the opportunity to secure the services of top players through long-term contracts.

The signing of long-term contracts by players may lead to a potential scenario where international cricket boards would be required to seek permission from private franchises in order to acquire the services of those players for national duty in the future.
