Rajasthan Royals will play four matches in the first phase of the IPL 2024 season.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) turned to their star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for a bit of off-field magic today, but this time, it wasn’t his googlies that stole the show. Chahal, known for his playful personality, took center stage to unveil the franchise’s brand-new jersey for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
The announcement of the new RR jersey was started with a leaked WhatsApp chat between Yuzvendra Chahal and Jos Buttler.
With just three weeks remaining from the start of the 17th edition of the IPL, the Rajasthan Royals has decided to reveal their new jersey design for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. However, Rajasthan Royals haven’t made any changes to the colours of their outfit from the previous season and have once again stuck to their pink and blue threads.
In the latest video shared by the Rajasthan Royals on its ‘X’ handle (formerly Twitter), veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal can be seen designing the new match day kit and coming up with a unique design. After that, the star leg spinner was seen asking wicketkeeper Jos Buttler about his opinion on the latest matchday kit designed by him.
The wicketkeeper batter then repiled ‘not so sexy Yuzi Bhai.’ After that, Chahal was seen asking the same question to RR skipper Sanju Samson, where he said ‘the jersey would only look good on him.’ The viral video concluded with leg-spinner Chahal getting a new RR jersey which the team will wear in the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
Here is the viral clip:
The Rajasthan-based franchise were the champions of the IPL 2008 season. Thereafter, RR never reached the final of the cash-rich league until 2022. In the 2022 IPL edition, under the leadership of right-handed batter Sanju Samson, the side reached their second final. However, they lost to the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 final.
In IPL 2023, the Rajasthan Royals had a decent run, but they failed to reach the play-offs as they finished in fifth place in the points table. In the IPL 2024 mini-auction, RR made a few changes to the squad by signing Rovman Powell, Shubham Dubey, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Abid Mustaq, and Nandre Burger.
Left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal was traded to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for fast bowler Avesh Khan ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. RR will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against LSG at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on March 24.
