RR owners are ready to sell their entire stake.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) will commence a fresh journey in the Indian Premier League 2026 under new captain Riyan Parag. After former captain Sanju Samson left the team and joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan appointed youngster Parag as their next successor.

RR will look to win their second title in the tournament’s history. They won the trophy in the inaugural edition in 2008 but have never won the title again. In IPL 2022, they ended as runners-up after losing the final to the Gujarat Titans (GT).

Along with leadership, the Royals are also set to witness a change in ownership. The current team owners are in the process of selling the team. Earlier, RR owners were looking to sell the majority stake, but are now open to a full sale.

Manoj Badale’s Emerging Media IPL Ltd owns a 65 per cent stake in the franchise. The remaining shares are owned by RedBird Capital Partners (15 per cent) and Lachlan Murdoch (13 per cent), while a few individual investors hold the remaining 7 per cent.

According to a report by The Indian Express, RR have found three potential bidders for their sale. Rajasthan Royals have received bids of around $1.1 billion and $1.35 billion (INR 10,168–12,479 crore).

Among the three parties that have submitted bids to buy the franchise, Aditya Birla Group are leading the race. They have submitted a bid by forming a consortium with US-based David Blitzer. Another consortium and a leading Indian Media Group have submitted bids. The deadline to submit bids was March 16.

The RR’s sale process is being handled by Raine Group, who also oversaw the sale of franchises in The Hundred. They were also involved in the sales of football teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea in the past.

Unlike the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), RR owners are not in a hurry to sell their stakes. Having received the bids, they are likely to go ahead with the process in the coming months.
