Rajeev Shukla has reacted after HCA’s demand over change in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule again.

In an unprecedented demand once again, Hyderabad Cricket Association demanded changes in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule to manage the logistics and security of hosting two games on consecutive days. Earlier on the day, an HCA official told the news agency PTI that they have asked to tweak the schedule as hosting two back-to-back games on consecutive days will not be easy. Now, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has categorically denied the HCA demand and said that it is not easy to change the schedule now.

Rajeev Shukla denied HCA demands

BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla is also in charge of Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad for the World Cup games. Denying HCA’s demand, Rajiv Shukla said, “I am in charge of the Hyderabad venue for the World Cup, if there will be any issue or anything, I will try to get it resolved. It is not easy to change the World Cup schedule, and it’s unlikely to happen. BCCI can’t change the schedule, teams, ICC and all involved can.” Shukla was present at the launch event of the Uttar Pradesh T20 League.

HCA to host these three games

Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will host three main event games along with a few warm-up matches. HCA will host the New Zealand vs Netherlands game on October 9th, and then on October 10th, they will be hosting a day-night game between two former World Cup champions, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Along with these two games, Hyderabad will also host Pakistan’s opening game against the Netherlands on October 6th. These are the only three games HCA will host at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

Earlier, a HCA official claimed that hosting World Cup games on consecutive days would not be an easy job, as managing logistics and security would be a difficult task. A HCA official told PTI, “I can’t say it would be changed for sure, but for sure, back-to-back games are not ideal. I mean, if they (BCCI) are reconsidering, that will be good. We will have to work with security agencies.” The BCCI had already tweaked the schedule once after the official launch, and a total of nine games were changed. The India vs. Pakistan clash was also shifted one day earlier, on October 14. The World Cup will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
