Kandy’s Pallekele International Cricket Stadium is hosting the first 50-overs game in four years between these two nations. Team India had a poor start to their innings as Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf dealt early blows to India. Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat. Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya stood tall against Pakistan bowlers and helped India reach a challenging total. Apart from the action on the field, there were numerous moments fans enjoyed in the stands.
'Ram Siya Ram' played bythe DJ
Whenever India and Pakistan play against each other, the music on the ground seems common, as both nations share almost the same language, a similar culture, and the same taste in music. A lot of Bollywood songs, Coke Studio songs, patriotic songs, and devotional songs were on the playlist. In one instance, Adipurush's famed ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song was also played by the DJ at Pallekele. ‘Badhe Chalo’ from Lagaan was played numerous times during India’s innings. Similarly, Pasoori from Coke Studio also got maximum playtime in the music.
Rain has put the biggest dent in fans' entertainment around the world. Shower interrupted the game twice in the Indian innings and allowed Pakistan to reflect and improve their strategy against the Indian top-order. A short spell of showers was expected around 7 p.m, and currently, it is raining in Kandy. Soon the game will start losing overs, and the target could be altered if the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method is to be applied in the second innings. Team India were bundled out for 266 runs as no one apart from wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan and all-rounder Hardik Pandya stayed long in the wicket.
Ishan Kishan scored 82 runs in 81 balls, while Hardik Pandya smashed 87 runs in 90 balls. These two batters added 138 runs in 23 overs for the fifth wicket. India’s top-order had a disappointing evening as Rohit Sharma (11), Virat Kohli (4), Shubman Gill (10), and Shreyas Iyer (14) all got out cheaply. Shaheen Afridi picked up four wickets in his 10 overs and conceded only 35 runs. Naseem Shah also picked up three wickets, conceding only 36 runs. Naseem rattled India’s tail. Haris also got three wickets and conceded 58 runs in his nine overs.
