Rashid Khan catches up with MS Dhoni in Chennai ahead of AFG vs PAK clash

Rashid Khan picked up 3 wickets in Afghanistan's win against England in Delhi.

The Afghanistan cricket team is currently in Chennai for their next game against Pakistan at Chepauk Stadium on Monday. Afghanistan will be playing their second successive game at this venue, they played against New Zealand on Wednesday. While the Afghans prepare for a big game against Pakistan on 23rd October, the leg-spinner had a fan moment to celebrate his stay in Chennai. Rashid Khan met with Chennai’s adopted son MS Dhoni. 

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan shared a picture with Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni. 5-time IPL title winner for CSK, MS Dhoni is currently in Chennai to complete his professional commitments with India Cements. MS Dhoni is Vice President of marketing at India Cements. India Cements owns Chennai’s IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. Away from the cricketing action, MS Dhoni is living his life to the fullest and he was recently spotted in Mumbai as well for an ad shoot.

Rashid Khan posted a picture along with India’s World Cup winner skipper MS Dhoni on his Instagram and captioned it, “Always a pleasure to meet you Mahi bhai.”

Rashid Khan had his share of success against MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. MS Dhoni has struggled a bit to counter one of the finest leg-spinners of the current generation in World Cricket. 

Rashid Khan played a massive role in Afghanistan's second World Cup match win after 8 years. Afghanistan defeated England by 69 runs in a major World Cup upset last week. Rashid picked up 3 wickets in his 10 overs. He dismissed Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, and Mark Wood. England failed to chase down 285 runs against Afghanistan in Delhi. Rashid also contributed with the bat and scored 23 runs in 22 balls with 3 boundaries in his innings. 

Rashid Khan has so far picked up 6 wickets in 3 games in the World Cup 2023. He picked up two wickets against India and one against New Zealand at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Rashid Khan will be taking on Pakistan at the same ground and Chepauk has been a helpful wicket for the spin bowlers. Afghanistan have two points in four games they have played in the league round so far. While Pakistan got four points in four games.
